Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements and contributions that African Americans have made to American History. It is a time for us to pause and reflect on the continued struggle for racial justice here in America and abroad. As Barack Obama said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” We celebrate our beautiful melanated skin everyday and my husband and I do our best to teach and expose Isaiah in ways that support his growth and development.
So last weekend, we chose our favorite books that support the meaning and purpose of Black History Month. As a family, we thoroughly enjoy each of these books so we wanted to share them in this space with you. We hope that these books become part of your book collection too!
