Cheers to 31 Years of Life

Almost 2 weeks ago, I turned 31! By the grace of GOD! It was such a sweet and perfect day that I had to share!

For some time now, I have been wanting to bring in the New Year and one of my birthdays in another country soaking in a serene scenery, enjoying a fancy dinner, and sipping a cocktail. Well, 2020 and COVID put a pause on that dream (go figure, right?). BUT, that didn’t stop my sweet and thoughtful husband (Tony) for bringing scenic vibes to me!

This year I planned on spending my birthday alone since Tony had to work. A few days before my birthday, Tony informed he took the day off so he and I could spend the day together– I was SO HAPPY! I had no idea what he had planned, I was just happy to spend quality time with him!

SO the day came, and by 6:30 am I was in the gym getting a tough workout in. I left the gym feeling grateful I took care of my body on a day I could have chosen to do otherwise! But also, ready to get home to Isaiah and Tony!

When I arrived, I could hear them upstairs talking and singing. I just looked up at the closed door upstairs, smiled, and laughed at them. I figured I would quickly shower so that we could eat breakfast together. So I did, and then . . .

BREAKFAST!!! If you know me, then you know I LOVE BREAKFAST! And after that birthday workout, ya girl was STARVING!

Tony prepared a BOMB breakfast spread for all three of us! We ate shrimp and grits, a potato, sausage, and egg hash, and sipped on champagne. Isaiah had eggs, bacon, and a waffle. We feasted, danced, and sang. I needed nothing more for my birthday!

Soon after, Tony left to drop Isaiah off at school. When he returned I was told to pack a change of clothes, swimsuit, and be ready by 1pm.

So here we were cruising Houston, jamming, sun-roof open! The weather was so nice, 70 degrees and sunny! Very rare for January 4th lol. My heart was full!

We arrived at our destination, Fiori Spa! This hidden gem is a luxury resort style spa offering a variety of services and amenities. The entrance of the spa gave me Italy and Portugal vibes so I felt I was NOT in Houston! Tony and I immediately noted how clean and well kept that spa was. Everyone was very kind, patient, and welcoming during our visit. Another huge plus, there were very few people which made us feel safe considering COVID.

First up was a couples massage! Tony and I hadn’t had a COUPLES massage in YEARS so this was very much needed for both of us. I was so in awe that I forgot to capture a pic of the setup– bummer. I just remember the room feeling so cozy and smelling like eucalyptus, and then there was the softness and warmth of the masseuse’s hands . . . my eyes closed and I was in zen!

Our massages left us feeling relaxed and refreshed. But we still had the rest of the spa to explore. So, what better to partake in after a massage than a dip in a heated pool and jacuzzi?

It was a challenge to capture a shareable picture of the area due to the steam. But the setup reminded me a lot of our engagement trip to Italy where we visited the Great Groto! It was fairly neat and we didn’t want to leave!

It was only a matter of time before we would needed to refuel so to the showered we went!

The outside terrace was the icing on the cake for us! We lounged there for a while and made our way to the on site rooftop bar and lounge, Ivy. We shared a few light bites (since we were ordering takeout for dinner), got lost in conversation, and caught most of the sunset!

Before we knew it, Isaiah came up in our conversation and we wanted nothing more than to pick him up from day care so we could enjoy the rest of the day at home— just the 3 of us, lounging, watching movies, and of course, eating! We did just that!
My day was pure bliss! My husband did the dang thang as always! I’ll forever be grateful for him! And since I know you’ll be reading this, I love you so very much babe! You’re the best for me!

This is 31! To God be the glory!
